“MEET and GREET” with the Interior Designer

Q. What kind of interior solutions do you offer? What kind of projects do you specialize in?

A. This is a very important and basic question to get the best solutions. Suppose if the interior designer has done budget homes then whether he will be able to justify the luxury required in your villa. Accordingly, you can see the specialization suits your requirement and whether he visualizes your needs in the best fit.

Q. Is there a particular interior style that appeals to you?

A. Modern, Contemporary or vintage, it may be any; the interior designer should be able to make up any of the styles as per your demand and purpose. He should be in your shoes to think for you and get you the most space utilization.

Q. Could you share some of your work samples?

A. This is the only way to get to know the designer. Don’t hesitate to ask for a sample. With this, you can know that you are with the right designer and you both are on the same page. Design professionals have their work to showcase to present as their portfolio.

Q. What is the payment structure do you have any tie-ups?

A. Plan out your budget and split it up as per pocket size. See if the interior designer has the schedule stage-wise and ask for the estimate in prior after disclosing your budget. The tie-ups would help you get the finishing at a better price with the help of your interior designer. His experience would be a perk to you in cost-effectiveness.

Q. Would my home be displayed as a part of your portfolio?

A. Asking for a portfolio is the demand of every person these days from an interior designer. As you have asked for samples, some people would also. Your home images may be used for the portfolio purpose but it won’t happen without your knowledge, just assure this from your designer.

Q. Once the home is handed over, will the upkeep be an expensive affair? What is the degree of care to be taken?

A. The purpose of the renovation is not only to beautify but to make it maintenance-free. It should enhance the livability and end of the day it should help you organize the daily stuff. The daily chaos should be minimized with the upgraded design and technology should be the purpose of the designer.

Q. What if we don’t like the design or elements after they have been installed/ completed? Are you open to altering things midway through the process?

A. It is ok to change your mind mid-way or if you don’t like the designs. There should be a way to fix it. Discuss it with the designer and try to find a middle ground.
